Membership FAQ's

We are always delighted to receive enquiries from potential Club members.  Prospective members, if they are unfamiliar to the club, are welcomed to attend a tour of the Club with the Club Secretary.

If you are interested in more information about joining, please use the enquiry form.

Prospective members are invited to apply for membership via the completion of a nomination form.  This proposal for membership must be supported by the signatures of other members of more than one year’s standing.  If required, the prospective member maybe expected to attend an interview with the Club Secretary, Club Chairman, or member of the Club Committee who would be able to support their application.

If the proposal is not supported by the President, Club Chairman, or Club Secretary following an interview or where more than two members of the Club Committee vote against their election then membership will not be granted.

The Club Secretary shall notify successful candidates of their election.  They shall become liable to pay the appropriate entrance fee and subscription upon such notification and their election shall become void unless such fee and subscription be paid within one month.

Our membership year runs from the 1stOctober to the 30thSeptember.  Members elected partway through a year will pay a pro rata rate according to the number of months remaining in the subscription year.  Membership is for the full membership year.  No refunds are given if the membership is cancelled mid-year.

Ordinary members will pay an entrance fee, which is determined by the Club Committee.  This fee will then be held on an account at the bar and will be available to spend before the 31stDecember in the year of joining.

The Club offers a warm and welcome atmosphere where you can meet friends or business colleagues throughout the day and enjoy elegant surroundings.  The Club focuses on using delicious, locally sourced, fresh seasonal produce.  We provide a daily menu for all, whether this be for a quick lunchtime sandwich or light lunch.  The Club has a bar, library, billiard room (with a full-size snooker table), function rooms and a dining room.  All these areas have free Wi Fi access and are available for Club members as well as for private hire.  We additionally have accommodation for members or their guests to stay at a reasonable cost.  Also, The Club has a gated car park where you can park for a nominal fee per day or for half a day.  There is also the option for a Level 1 or Level 2 parking space.  Please see the Club for further details on the parking availability.

As a Private Members Club, we hold several interest groups such as film group, book, and history group to name a few.  Events are varied and normally have a theme.  We look to hold black tie dinners once a month, and these are also generally subject related, such as celebrating Trafalgar or Waterloo to Valentine’s Day.  An events committee put together various notable speaker lunches as well as less formal events, such as a BBQ and Quiz night also.

The Club similarly benefits from being linked to several reciprocal Clubs in the UK and abroad.  These offer a great meeting space to see business colleagues or friends.  Some additionally have accommodation where you can stay for a mini break or for just one night.
